Graves to Grace was created to ensure that every Nova Scotian is remembered with dignity.

 

Many families cannot afford the cost of grave markers, plaques, or repairs to damaged headstones. Our mission is to remove that burden by providing free memorial markers and restoration assistance to those who need it most.

Funded entirely through community support and the “Pay What You Can Afford” model at NovaScotiaObits.com, Graves to Grace exists to bring compassion, dignity, and care to resting places across our province.

What We Provide

Free Grave Markers & Plaques

​

We supply markers, plaques, and simple headstones at no cost to families facing financial hardship. Our goal is to ensure every loved one has a proper place of remembrance.

Headstone Repair & Restoration

​

For families with damaged, fallen, or neglected memorials, we offer assistance in repairing or restoring headstones to their proper condition.

​

Cemetery Care Support

​

When possible, we partner with volunteers, local organizations, and cemetery caretakers to help maintain sections of older or forgotten cemeteries in need of attention.

Who Can Apply

​

Any family in Nova Scotia experiencing financial difficulty may apply. There is no strict income test, no lengthy paperwork, and no judgment.

Applications may be submitted by:

• Immediate family members

• Guardians or estate representatives

• Funeral homes assisting families

• Community organizations acting on a family’s behalf

How It Works

​

1. Submit a Request
   Fill out the simple online application (form launching soon).

2. Review & Verification
   Our volunteers review the request and contact the applicant if any details are needed. Your name will be added to out master list and we start from the top and work down as funds allow.

3. Selection of Memorial
   We work with you to choose the appropriate marker, plaque, or repair service based on the needs of your loved one’s resting place.

4. Installation or Restoration
   Our team arranges the installation of the memorial marker or coordinates the repair/restoration with qualified professionals or volunteers.

All services are provided free of charge.
