David was the only child of David S. and Gladys (Stewart) Forbes.
He attended East Pictou Rural High and West Pictou Rural High. Upon graduation, he joined the RCAF. Graduating from 4 Operational Training Unit in Trenton Ont. in 1967, he was assigned operational status with 435 Transport Squadron, C130 Hercules aircraft, in Nanao AB. He resigned from the RCAF in 1972 to join Pacific Western Airlines new C130 Hercules division. This division was eventually closed and he embarked on a long career with various international air cargo carriers operating worldwide.
In 1991, David left active flying to become Director of Operations Canada for Lynden Air Freight based in Seattle, WA. This company provided aircraft and logistics for UPS in their new expansion into Canada. In 2001, he began his own company, Dafor Freight Services, providing air and ground services for oilfield supplies between Texas and Alaska.
In 2007, David and his wife, Denise, retired and built their new home in Kings Head.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife Gayle (1991) and his wife Denise (2007).
He is survived by step-daughters: Sylvie Andrews (Greg), TX; and Suzanne Misener (Shawn), Trenton; step-grandchildren: Victoria, Blake and Lochie; as well as many cousins.
Visitation 2-4pm Monday, July 21, in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow.
A private family burial will take place in Church Brook Cemetery.
