Donna Leah Chisholm passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. After her cancer diagnosis she put her faith in God for strength and courage to fight a brave battle.

Born June 1, 1953, in Inverness, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Hart and Viola (MacDermid) Hart.

Donna grew up in Margaree Centre and was a member of Wilson United Church and the Anne Bellis Group. She graduated from Margaree Forks District High School. Following this she went on to receive her certificate in cosmetology and worked in several salons, including her own shop at home. She also worked at the Scotia Sun and Chisholm’s variety store, along with years of babysitting.

In earlier years Donna enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking and gardening, taking pride in all her tasks. She spent many summers teaching Bible Vacation School and truly enjoyed time spent with the children and teaching crafts.

She loved animals, and family pets, Ollie and Levi provided much entertainment and comfort.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Kara Chisholm (Colin MacMillan), Port Hawkesbury; sister, Beryl (Derrick) Heatley, McLellans Brook; niece, Jennifer Heatley; nephew, Colin (Missa) Heatley; special great-niece, Emilia Heatley; and several close aunts and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother in infancy and Kara’s father, Kenny Chisholm.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. Visitation will take place in the Wilson United Church Hall, Margaree Centre on Sunday, September 14th from 5-8 pm. Funeral service will be held in Wilson United Church on Monday, September 15th at 11am with Rev. Alicia Cox officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Genge, Barbie Cook, home care nurses and the palliative care nurses and doctors who cared for Donna at home and at the Strait Richmond Hospital. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
