Dennis Rowlings Fraser – 86, Truro, passed away peacefully, while holding hands with his best friend and beloved wife, Mary, on Tuesday afternoon, January 23, 2024, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Caribou Gold Mines, Halifax County, he was a son of the late Esson and Reta (Redden) Fraser.
Dennis worked at Bartlett’s Plastics for many years and also kept busy doing many other jobs, including automobile mechanic and carpentry. He was a member of McCulloch United Church, Harmony, was active with the Men’s Club and volunteered his time for many church fundraisers, often being the cook (or the taster…) for the barbecue. He enjoyed walking and reading Western books.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary (Shaw); siblings, Garnet Fraser, Truro; Janet (Al) Currie, Harmony; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Joan (George) Hinton, Frances (William) Booth, Phyllis (John) Stewart; sister-in-law, Judy Fraser.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Dennis’ family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024, and funeral service 1 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2024, Reverend Wendy Kean officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Harmony Cemetery.
