Halifax, NS
May 05, 1966 - December 11, 2025
He was born in Halifax on May 5, 1956, to Albert Raymond and Mildred Althea Keating (Cox). Dave had a lifelong love of hockey.
He played the game and spent over 40 years sharing that passion through his work at Cleve’s, where he helped generations of players find the right equipment. He found peace in the outdoors, whether fishing, hunting, or spending time at the camp. He also enjoyed baseball, bowling, music, attending concerts, and collecting memories on his travels with family. A true outdoorsman and collector at heart, his greatest joy was time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dave is survived by his wife Cathy (Selig), and his children, Jen (Kyle), Sandy (Rohit), and Mike (Elena); siblings Susan (Doug), Bobby (Colleen) and Judy; and his five grandchildren, Sol, Huxly, Sylvia, Aarya, and Raya; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and his sisters Mildred Clark, Alberta and Ruby Keating.
Visitation will be at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, on Thursday, December 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. A Funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, December 19 at 2 p.m. Reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Terry Fox Foundation.
The family would like to thank the palliative care team, including the many doctors, nurses, and oncologists that have cared for him, the continuing care team, and VON.
Dave will be sadly missed by his family and friends, and his grandchildren will always remember their ‘Silly Papa Dave’.
