It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother Ricky Keough on Jan 21, 2025

Ricky was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on April 17, 1957, to Edith Hawco and Maurice (Moe) Keough. After completing his schooling, Ricky ventured west and worked in various parts of Canada. A miner by trade, he worked in numerous mines across the country, from the northern territories to the western provinces. A few years ago, he returned to Cape Breton to reconnect with family, before moving back out west to continue his mining career until he was forced to retire due to ill health.

Ricky was a true outdoorsman, finding peace and joy in the wilderness. He had a deep love for hunting and fishing, and his happiest moments were spent surrounded by nature.

Ricky is survived by his sons, Coady (Joleen), Seith, and Isaac (Shania); stepdaughter Leanne; grandchildren; Aja, Cole, Allianna, River, Jace, Sage, GJ and Edwin. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Samson (Reg) and Catherina Pendergast (John); brothers Ken Keough (Janet), Fred Keough (Cheryl); sister-in-law Cathy, and many nieces and nephews.

Ricky was predeceased by his parents, Maurice (Moe) Keough, Edith and Wilfred Hawco; his sister, Gloria (Dalton) Norman, recently passed; his brothers, Andrew and Danny, sisters-in-laws Theresa MacKenzie, Donna Keough, brother-in-law Gordie Dalton and nephew Stephen Keough.

As per Ricky's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. His ashes will be spread in the waters off Vancouver Island and Cape Breton Island, where he found peace throughout his life.

Ricky's love for his family, his work ethic, and his passion for the outdoors will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
