It is with great sadness that we, the family of Margaret Gladys MacDonald, announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.


Born on January 10, 1932, in Sydney, Margaret was a daughter of the late Robert and Rosella (Lundrigan) Parsons and stepdaughter of the late Isabel (Sheppard) Parsons of Whitney Pier.


She was a faithful member of St. Alban’s Church throughout her life.


Margaret retired from Revenue Canada Taxation in 1992. She greatly enjoyed sewing, cooking, and playing cards with family and friends. Over the years, she spent many happy summers camping in Ingonish, Seal Island, and St. Ann’s.


Margaret is survived by her loving son, Scott Wilson, and daughter-in-law, Belinda Wilson, of London, ON; and her three beautiful granddaughters, Brittany (Jorge Trabanco) of Halifax, Katherine (Tom Watkins) of Ajax, ON, and Therese of Halifax. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Cathy MacDonald of Ontario; sisters, Audrey Hopkins and Cheryl Ratushny, both of Sydney; brother, Gordon Parsons (Arlene) of Sydney; sister-in-law, Penny Parsons; brother-in-law, Ray Smith; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Wilson, in 1972; her second husband, Currie MacDonald, in 1999; and her stepmother, Isabel (Sheppard) Parsons. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Pauline Parsons and Dorothy Smith; brothers, Ralph and Robert Parsons; and brothers-in-law, Charlie Hopkins and Kenneth Ratushny.


Memorial donations may be made to St. Alban’s Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
