Sydney, NS

November 04, 1960 - September 28, 2025

It is with profound sadness that I am announcing the passing of my beautiful Mother, Maureen Diane Scott on September 28, 2025 at Northside General Hospital in North Sydney at the age of 64. Born on November 4, 1960, She was the daughter of the late Francis Frederick (Fred) and Leona (LeMoine) Scott of North Sydney.

Maureen was an artist above all, though she spent most of her working life fondly caregiving for the elderly as a CCW. She spent a great deal of time tole painting and restoring ceramic heirloom pieces with a fresh coat of paint in her own artistic flair. She worked with leather for a time and was proficient in the art of making Dreamcatchers, a skill given, learned, and mastered from her sister in life, Sheila Johnson. She was also an avid crocheter and produced many beautiful projects with her unique flair for color choices and placement. A voracious reader while her eyes permitted, she could often be found 'taking a nap' only to be nose deep in a book for hours. She was a good Mom and did the best she could with what she had.

Surviving are her daughter Jennifer Maynigo(Jerry), and son Ryan Arseneau. Siblings Gertrude 'Gert' Kelly, Dennis Scott, Deborah 'Debbie' Scott and Freda Zuberovic. Niece Lynn Parker, nephew Dennis Jr (Dennis, Shauna) and honorary niece Falon Stevens who all visited Mom at Taigh Solas. Along with many other nieces and nephews and cousins.

Apart from her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her brothers: George, Raymond, Tom and Frederick 'Freddie'. And sisters: Lillian 'Lill', Mary, Jean, Madeline, Edith 'Edie', and Janet.

I would like to express my deepest and sincerest thanks to the enormous team of caregivers and professionals who took care of my Mom throughout her illness. Special thanks to all staff at Dutch Brook Guest Home, the Renal & Heart Function Clinics at CBRH, Dr. Archibald & staff, Taigh Solas Nursing Home Nurses and staff, NSGH 3rd Floor Nurses and Doctors, and CBRH ICU Nurses. Additional special mention to T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel and especially Andrew Chapman and Heather who were invaluable to me throughout this process from the first step.

Cremation has taken place and a spreading of Maureen's ashes to the ocean will commence at a later date with close friends and family in attendance.
