We forever remember and honour Hailey Hope Kinnear (Hayden Thériault) who was only 21 when she unexpectedly passed on the morning of August 5, 2026 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Gone much too soon.
Born April 21, 2005, Hailey was a gentle and feisty soul with a large and giving heart. She carried big feelings and a softness this world does not always make room for. Many describe her as a dreamer. She was an active member and advocate for the LGBT+ community and stood firmly for the people and causes she believed in. From the time she was a child she had a generous heart, always helping others even when she was struggling herself. If you needed her, she was there. And if she could not be there in person she still found ways to help. Her friends became her chosen family. She spent hours on FaceTime just to talk and keep people company.
Although a diva who would dream of extravagance Hailey would also find comfort in life’s simple things and remained humble through life. She enjoyed doing makeup, the beauty industry, listening to (sometimes questionable) music, collecting things she was interested in, and watching her favourite shows. Those who knew her will carry the memory of her warmth, her loyalty, and the way she turned friendships into family.
Hailey grew up in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. Shortly before her passing she resided in Antigonish but was often transient; she would stay at Phoenix House shelter which became a home away from home, the staff and community are also mourning her loss.
She is survived by her mother Jillian (Kinnear); sisters Hannah (Harvey) and Lacey (Daniels); brothers Hunter (Thériault) and Mr. Chow; niece Sophia (Sesula); grandparents David (Daniels) and Janet (Benoit), Jeanie (Thériault), and Cheryl (Kinnear); her great-grandmother Sylvia (Kinnear); her dear friends, and various other aunts, uncles and extended family. She regrettably left behind her cats Barbie and Munchkin, who are now in her mother’s care.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date as the family is still grieving this loss. Anyone is welcome to reach out and attend.
