Baddeck, NS
December 03, 1984 - May 07, 2025
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving son, Shaun Andrew MacDonald of Baddeck, NS.
Shaun was born December 3, 1984, in Baddeck and passed away May 7, 2025, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 40.
He completed his early education in Baddeck, graduating from Baddeck Academy in 2003. From there he moved on to St. Mary’s University in Halifax earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Shaun later attended Dalhousie University and Carleton University where he studied political science.
After university he returned home and worked at several tourism establishments in the village, but the job he loved the best was fishing lobster with his Dad and buddy, Blaine on the Mystic Mariner.
Shaun is survived by his parents, who he loved and cared for so much, Barry and Anne MacDonald; brother, Allan (Celeste); uncles, Ian (Joan) and Allister (Florence); and many close cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, John A. and Christie MacDonald and Danny and Georgina MacKinnon. Shaun also leaves behind close friends, Brad, Franklin, Mac, Kenzie, Bobby, Daniel, Peter, Malcolm and Blaine.
Shaun had a brilliant mind, a quick wit, a loving heart and many talents. He was fiercely loyal and had a great sense of adventure. His love for his Mom was so great, it was indescribable, and she shared her love for him equally. She stood by him 24/7, whenever the need arose.
The care Shaun received in his final days in the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital was something we are very grateful for. Thank you to nurses, Carnelle, Kayla, Megan and Kelsie for always being there.
Visitation will take place in Knox Presbyterian Church, Baddeck on Wednesday, May 14th from 4-8 p.m. with a funeral to take place in the church on Thursday, May 15th at 3 p.m., Rev. Brian MacLeod and Rev. Corrie Stewart officiating.
Donations in Shaun’s memory may be made to the SPCA or Talbot House.
“Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end; they simply mean that we will miss you until we meet again.”
We will always love you Shaun…rest in peace.
