Nicholson, Frank Adam

August 13, 2025

Frank Adam Nicholson – 61, Truro. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Frank Nicholson on the morning of Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at home, due to natural causes.

Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late John and Alvina (Varbeff) Nicholson.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Adain Roode; brothers, John Nicholson, Ralph Nicholson, Peter Nicholson.

Frank leaves behind his common-law wife of 26 years, Shelley Lumsden; daughter, Falon Curwin (Chris); sons, Jonathon Curwin (Courtney), Mike Roode (Kendra), Chainse Roode (Santana), Brandon Roode (Brittany); brother, James Nicholson; sister, Nichole Nicholson (Brad); father figure of Megan Croft, Daniel Croft; grandchildren, Mya Roode, Kierrah Curwin, Tye Roode, Keegan MacAulay, Blaise Curwin-Taylor, Kayden MacAulay, Raelynn Roode, Aaliyah Curwin; Godchildren, Lynn Curwin-Spencer, Tony Gilbert, Tanisha Gilbert, Kyra Gilbert, Brayden Croft; many nieces and nephews.

Frank moved to Truro almost 30 years ago with his brother and best friend, Jimmy for a fresh start at life. For so long it was always the two of them together; they were there for each other side by side no matter what. It was in Truro 26 years ago that he met his soul mate, Shelley; she came into his life at a pivotal time for him. It was with her and her three boys that Frank was able to experience the true sense of what it was like to be a family. Her sons became his sons and his daughter became her daughter. Together they became one. She gave him love, stability and the support he needed. They built a beautiful life together that will live on for generations to come.

Frank was larger than life and he had a presence like no other. He touched the lives of many and was loved by all (too many to name but you know who you are); he held a special place for all of you. Anyone that truly knew him knew he was a big ‘ol teddy bear with an even bigger heart, I'm sure we can all agree that he gave the best hugs. His positive spirit will be remembered always.

If so desired, donations in Frank’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
