It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the sudden passing of Hubert Elton "Hugh" Benjamin. Hugh passed away in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the age of 53.
Born in Pictou, he was the only son of the late Clarence "Elton" and Esther (Bigney) Benjamin.
Hugh was a well-known and respected plumber in the Valley, working for G.C. Baxter Plumbing & Heating for many years. In his free time, he dabbled in photography, with a special interest in abandoned barns and nature photography. He loved driving around in his truck looking for beautiful scenery to photograph. He was also a hockey lover, a big fan of the Boston Bruins, a lover of NASCAR, and faithfully attended Thunder in the Valley annually.
Hugh is survived by his son, Zachery (Emma Sturk) and Zachery’s mother, Sherry Benjamin, as well as his son, Mark Zugay of New Glasgow; sisters, Lori (Eldred) Fraser, Bonnie Bigney; half-sisters, Ruth (Michael) Grant and Sherry Canton; three grandsons; his niece and nephew, Crystal (Philip) Martin and Michael (Rose Spencer) Bigney, who were like his siblings; as well as several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will also be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. For those unable to attend a livestream will be available at the time of the service.

Hugh may have left us too soon, but his spirit will
live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
