It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Laurie Bowness (“LB”) of Bedford, NS on August 10, 2024, at the age of 71 years old.
Laurie is survived by Common-law wife Anne-Marie Boucher; his children: Lance (Laura), Scott (Janelle); his grand-children: Antonio, Jack, Theo, and Benson; his siblings: Laureen (Bruce), Rick (Judy) and Shirley; and many extended family members.
Laurie was predeceased by his parents Robert S. (“Bob”) Bowness and Thelma (MacDonald) of Halifax, NS, and brother-in-law Stewart McInnes.
Laurie had a long and distinguished career independently self-employed as a Financial & Insurance Advisor continuing to work and strive for his clients up until his passing. Laurie was so many things to everyone in his life he was carefree, social, charismatic, a family man and loved to make everyone around him laugh.
Laurie took great pride in his sons and spent many hours watching and coaching them through their various sporting endeavors and was a devoted member of the Bedford United Church through the years.
Laurie also showed passion for sports through his love of playing for the Halifax Jr Blazers, various local university teams, Suburban League with the Fairview Aces and then later on with a number of Old Timers leagues within the HRM.
Infectious Laugh. Always happy to see you. Laurie leaves behind a void that cannot be filled and will be greatly missed by many.
No visitation at the funeral home by request. A public service will be held at Bedford United Church on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 1:00PM with Pastor David Hart officiating.
