The death of Teresa Alexina "Terry" (MacPherson) Heslop occurred on February 12, 2025, in Wilmington, NC.
Born in Croft, Antigonish County, on May 10, 1928, Terry was the daughter of the late John J. "The Barber" and Mary Agnes (Campbell) MacPherson.
As a young woman, she moved to Montreal where she met her husband, Robert "Bob" Heslop. The couple spent most of their fifty-two years of marriage in Dorval and were active members of St. Veronica's Parish. Terry was also an energetic volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, hospice and palliative care programs, and more recently in her community’s soup kitchen. Following the death of her husband in 2009, Terry moved to North Carolina to be closer to her children but retained a close connection to the family, music, and culture of Antigonish County.
"Aunt Terry" is survived by her children, Fred, Montreal; Bruce (Harmony), North Carolina; Valerie (Greg), North Carolina; and Shirly Purdy, Antigonish. She is also survived by her brother Rod (Pat); Thunder Bay, ON; sister-in-Law, Pat MacPherson, Glen Roy; as well as thirteen grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Margaret Bowie; and brothers, John Dan and Angus.
Cremation has taken place, and burial will be in Dorval at a later date.
