Sidney George MacIntosh, formerly of Abercrombie, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the age of 81, at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish on February 20, 1943, he was the son of the late Jean and Sidney MacIntosh.
He was a faithful member of St. George’s Anglican Church and a member of the New Glasgow HOW Club. He was a 20-year member of the Linacy Fire Department. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping and fishing. He was an avid follower of NASCAR Racing having attended many races in the U.S. He also attended MASCAR and Pro Stock racing in the Maritimes.
He was employed with Eastern Drugs Company (Halifax), MacDougall Construction for 18 years (New Glasgow) and retired in 2005 from Bell Aliant after 20 years of service.
He is survived by his sisters: Mary Lou Kaiser, Port Bickerton; Patsy (Gordon) Burns, Antigonish; brother-in-law, Leonard Silver, Ottawa; nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend of 54 years, Linda (Hayne); sister, Judy Silver, (Ottawa); brother-in-law, Howard Kaiser, (Port Bickerton); nephew, Perry Kaiser, (New Glasgow).
The family would like to extend thanks to staff at The Maples, Green Meadows and St. Martha’s Hospital for the care given to Sid.
Cremation has taken place. A private interment will take place in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Alma.
