John Ross MacLeod, 76, Pictou, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late James Henry and Beryl Vernita (Ross) MacLeod.
After retirement from Maritime Steel, he joined the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires where he was employed at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow and Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou. John took great pride being a Commissionaire and thoroughly enjoyed the social interactions his position afforded. John was happiest when on his deck sipping tea with his wife, Catherine with their fur babies, Louis and Baby, and their friend, Seymour. John will be remembered as a brave, honest, optimistic man, who demonstrated great resilience thorough out his life and illness. He leaves a rich legacy of love and beautiful memories.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine; sons, Matthew MacLeod, Linacy; David MacLeod (Brenden MacMillian), Airdrie; grandchildren, Ava and Ella, and their mother, Ashley Hall, New Glasgow; sisters, Janice (Tom) Fraser, Plymouth; Heather (Barry) MacLean, Riverton; brother, Norman (Anne) MacLeod, MacLellan’s Brook; sister-in-law, Virgina MacLeod, New Glasgow; brother-in-law, Art Mansour, Pictou; mother-in-law, Barbara Weatherbie, Trenton; brothers-in-law, Doug (Debbie) Weatherbie, Lyons Brook; Rob Weatherbie, Merigomish; Will Weatherbie, Trenton; aunt-in-law, Blanche MacFarlane, Merigomish; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Danny MacLeod, Cedric MacLeod and Ena Smith; father-in-law, Bill Weatherbie; sister-in-law, Barbie Ryan; niece, Dawn Ryan.
A private graveside service will be held in Seaview Cemetery, Pictou.
