Marshall, Robert “Bob”

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Marshall, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the age of 87.

Born in Sydney in 1937, Bob was a son of the late John “Ralph” Marshall and Margaret Grace MacLean. He married his loving and devoted wife, Mary on November 4, 1979, in Sydney.

Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Mary, as well as his six daughters and five sons: Brenda (Allan), Agnes (Greg), Jane (Rick), Cindy (Ken), Paula (Angelo), Wanda, Bernie (Jacqueline), Blair (Barb), Wayne (Carol), Donnie (Monica) and Larry. Papa’s loving presence will be deeply missed by all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Earl "George" (Norma), Jack (Norma), Ralph (Shirley), Leaman (Evelyn), Edward (Margaret) and Phillip (in infancy); and son, Robert "Barry".

Bob will be remembered for his love of sharing stories of his past and spending time with his family. In his earlier days he proudly served as a peacekeeper for the Canadian Armed Forces in New Brunswick for four years and later in life enjoyed traveling and camping in his motorhome. He was quiet, but social and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #12 Sydney and the Masonic Lodge #84.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for all their care and communication over the past few months, as well as Sydney Memorial Chapel for their compassionate support during this difficult time.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A private family service will be held at a later date.
