Myers, Robert Glenn “Bobby”

Sydney, NS

June 24, 1947 - September 20, 2025

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Glenn “Bobby” Myers on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Sydney on June 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Lavinia (Hagell) and William Postlethwaite.

Bobby was a school bus driver for 24 years, retiring in 2016. He loved his work and had many stories about the children he was responsible for during his school bus driver days. He often said he could write a book about conversations he had with or overheard from the little ones in his care.

Bobby loved camping, especially when he extended hospitality to other campers as campground host at Nova Scotia Provincial Campgrounds around the province. In his younger days, he developed great skill playing pool and snooker and spent many hours at the “pool room”. He won several horseshoe championships and loved playing golf. He played in several dart leagues and love dart tournaments, winning many awards for high scores and 180s. He also loved watching golf and cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs on TV.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Mary Theresa (Gale) Myers; five sons/daughters, Rob (Christa Davis and her daughter, Madaelyn MacPhee), South Bar, Rochelle (Andrew) Johnston, Glenn and Suzanne (Jean-Rene Losier), all of Moncton and Kenny (Emily MacDonald), Halifax; grandson, Simon Johnston; and sister, Cathy Postlethwaite.

He will also be missed by his beloved pets, Bandi and Benny. Bobby loved his grand dogs, Summer, Turbo, Mina, Kali, Molly and Sprinkles; and grand cats, Zelda, Charlie, Mini, Maggie, Loki, and Nemo.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joan Wall and brother, Darryl Postlethwaite.

The family would like to thank the first responders and CCU staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care of Bobby during his illness.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11:00 am in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Cape Breton SPCA or a charity of choice.
