Price (Shepard), Kathy Lynn

Louisburg, NS

February 15, 1958 – August 02, 2024

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Kathy Lynn Price, age 66, on Friday, August 02, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born February 15, 1958, in Sydney by way of Louisbourg, she was the daughter of Leona (Clarke) Shepard and the late Percy Shepard.

Kathy is survived by her sons, Stephen Scott Price (Evelyn) and Brian James Percy Price (Shauna); grandchildren, Eva, Mia, Claudia, Melissa and fur grandbaby Maisy; brothers, Aubrey (Ann), Kirk (Arlene), Glenn (Eleanor), David; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her father Percy Shepard Sr., Kathy was also predeceased by her husband Stephen Francis Price and her brother, Percy Shepard (Anna).

At a young age, Kathy loved spending time with her five brothers living in a packed house in Louisbourg under the watchful eye of Percy and Leona. Before long she met the love of her life, Stephen Francis of Little Lorraine, and her path was set in life. She raised two boys with a gentle and loving heart and instilled in them what love and family really mean. Kathy worked in the fishing industry all her life in various roles culminating with her most recent position as Quality Control Supervisor at Northsyde Processing Ltd. Her caring and honest approach to work made Kathy a very popular and admired colleague to her fellow coworkers as well as senior management making many life-long friendships along the way.

Perhaps her greatest role in life was that of being a kind, gentle and loving grandmother. She cherished her grandkids dearly and enjoyed making wonderful memories with them both while visiting Calgary and during the summers in Louisbourg whenever they would make the trip back home. She simply lived for them, and the guidance and wisdom bestowed upon them will last a lifetime. Her love of community and pride in being from Cape Breton was evident in her daily life as Kathy was always willing to lend a hand or support a worthwhile cause for those in need, and for those who had the pleasure of meeting Kathy, you were better for it. She will be greatly missed by all.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A public visitation will be held at Stella Maris Parish in Louisbourg on Monday, August 5 from 12-2 p.m. followed by a funeral mass at 2 pm with Father I.K. officiating. Following the service, a private family interment will take place in the Stella Maris Parish Cemetery, Louisbourg. Refreshments will be available in the basement of the church, and we encourage everyone to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisbourg Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
