Barbara Jean Smith re Britten passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2025.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Gwen Gordon and stepfather Paul Gordon. Barbara was predeceased by her cherished son, Paul, and is lovingly survived by her son Adam (Laurie), her grandson Gavin, whom she adored, and her two granddaughters, Aubrey and Adalynn. She also leaves behind her sisters Phyllis and Wendy, and her brother Ken (Heather).

Barbara dedicated many years of her life to hairdressing, running her own salon before transitioning into a successful career as a real estate agent. In her retirement, she discovered her true calling as a crosswalk guard, where she formed deep bonds with the children she watched grow up, leaving a lasting impact on her community.

As a teenager, Barbara and her two sisters were avid paddlers, achieving the Canadian Championship in Ottawa in the late 1960s. She also participated in numerous marathons in support of the Arthritis Society, demonstrating her dedication to meaningful causes.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and crosswalk community, whose lives she touched with her kindness and unwavering spirit.

A celebration of life will be held on July 5, 2025, at 435 Portland Hills, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the community room on the second floor.
