Blackett’s Lake, NS

October 12, 1934 - October 14, 2025

We, the family of Cyril Williamson, regret to announce his passing on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Cyril passed peacefully in Miners Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines on a beautiful fall day just two days following his 91st birthday.

Born October 12, 1934, in Blackett’s Lake, he was the son of the late George and Sarah Ann (Hickman) Williamson. Cyril was a longtime resident of Blackett’s Lake, living there until having a stroke. He then called Miners Memorial Manor in Sydney Mines home for the past several years.

During his working career, Cyril was employed with Reeves, Pyro Minerals and the Municipal Incineration Facility, but his true passion was working alongside his brother, George at the family mill in Blackett’s Lake. They were the first to run a computerized sawmill in Nova Scotia.

Cyril will be remembered as a hardworking man, but in his spare time, loved to spend time gardening, cutting wood, woodworking, walking and tinkering with small engine repair in his retirement years. He also enjoyed many Sunday drives with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his sister, Pearl MacKeigan; daughter, Susan Williamson; grandchildren, Christa (Tommy) Trainor, Lindsey (Gerald) MacDonald, Alicia (Wayne) Odo, Jessica (Kyle) MacDonald, Caleb (Stephanie) Lloyd, Cyril (Kailin) MacDonald, Breanna (Scott) Lloyd and Dakota Lloyd; great-grandchildren, Lily, Mya, Sofie, Ryan, Owen, Kayson, Crew, Zoey, Quinnleigh, Russell, Lillian, Liam, Murphy, Hudson, and Gregory; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Cyril was predeceased by his wife, Ivy (Pitcher); daughter, Brenda Williamson; and siblings, George, Fred, Reg and Sally, who all passed away in the order they were born.

Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 18th from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Sunday, October 19th at 2 pm with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Interment will take place in John Pringle Cemetery, Blackett’s Lake.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Miners Memorial Manor or a charity of your choice.
